UNCLE MO
Uncle Mo is the creative force of Morgan Wood—a New Orleans-based songwriter, guitarist, and producer. The band’s name—Uncle Mo—is a nickname known among New Orleans musicians and locals, reflecting the deep community roots and personal connections that shape the group. The band formed with a core three-piece lineup, including Morgan’s real-life nephews: Jack Janas, a collaborative songwriter, bassist and producer, and Chris Roberts, adding a true family dimension to the project. Featuring a rotating cast of top-tier musicians from across South Louisiana, Uncle Mo delivers a high-energy blend of rock, funk, blues, boogie rock, and country.
Morgan started his journey as an artist at 14 growing up in Georgia, where he started his first touring band "Tongue n' Groove," and later "Earthparty." In 2006, Morgan moved to New Orleans. This is where he started touring internationally and also played in New York city, Boston, Vermont, Colorado, California, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, all over the Southeast, up and down the Atlantic coast, and especially Louisiana. In late 2025, Morgan started this solo project, which has evolved into Uncle Mo. This was the obvious choice for the name, because Morgan is a well known performer/songwriter among local musicians and across Louisiana as "Uncle Mo."
