UNCLE MO EPK
Uncle Mo is the New Orleans-based project of songwriter, guitarist, and producer Morgan Wood. Inspired by Morgan’s longtime nickname among family, musicians, and locals, Uncle Mo is rooted in authenticity, community, and the unmistakable energy of South Louisiana. Originally formed with Morgan’s nephews, Jack Janas on bass and Kade Morgan on guitar, the band has expanded into a rotating lineup of top-tier Louisiana musicians known for delivering powerful, high-energy performances.
Known for a signature guitar tone forged through Gibson guitars and Mesa/Boogie tube amplifiers, Uncle Mo brings a commanding presence to every performance. Drawing inspiration from the Southern-rock legacy of The Allman Brothers Band, the swagger and grit of The Rolling Stones, the trailblazing guitar work of Jimmy Page, and the raw, modern edge of Jack White, Mo blends blues-driven riffs, soulful melodies, and explosive energy into a sound that is both timeless and unmistakably his own.
Morgan has toured internationally and across the United States. performing at festivals and venues including Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest, French Quarter Festival, the Lincoln Center, Atlanta Midtown Festival, Trinumeral Festival, and many others.
Morgan has released four independent albums, while his session work has been featured on ESPN SportsCenter highlight segments, narrated by Chris Berman.
Morgan has shared stages with artists including Trombone Shorty, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, George Clinton, Dr. John, Kermit Ruffins, and many others.
The band is currently preparing to release its 2026 album, Keepin’ It Real, featuring local pedal steel player Dave Easley on several new tracks, and an all-star lineup of local and Southern Louisiana musicians.
Rooted in authenticity and inspired by the era that shaped him, Uncle Mo blends blues-driven rock, funk, groove, and extended deep psychedelic improvisation.
Driven purely by a love of the music, Uncle Mo brings back the spirit, attitude, and raw energy of classic rock ’n’ roll with a fresh, modern voice. Morgan Wood’s songs come from real moments, personal stories, and lived experiences, but at their core, they’re about having fun, living in the moment, and making the good times roll.
